iCan Swim - Sterling, VA

Teaching people with disabilities to swim is not only a good idea, it’s essential. Creating an effective swimming program for people with disabilities takes a patient understanding of each swimmer as well as a well-thought-out plan for how the lessons can be adapted to each child. This is the foundation of our iCan Swim program.

"We did it! My son learned to ride a 2 wheel bike in just 2 1/2 days which I thought would never happen. He is 14 and has been riding with training wheels or on his 3 wheeler since he was younger. It was so exciting to watch the progress each day of not only our son but the other kiddos that were in his session. The roller mechanisms used are pure genius and switching them out was unnoticeable even to us parents. HA! We are thrilled with our decision to take him out of school mid-day to make this happen all 5 days! His grandparents were ecstatic to come watch and support him and kept saying they were very proud and never thought they would see the day. We practiced all weekend and on Sunday rode our bikes about a mile. We are so grateful for this experience and enjoyed every minute of it. Thank you to all involved for teaching our son!"
