iCan Shine (formerly Lose The Training Wheels) is currently operated by two full-time, year-round management employees and approximately two dozen seasonal employees. Our seasonal staff are our Floor Supervisors and Bike Technicians that conduct our iCan Bike programs. Our busiest season is the Summer, but our iCan Bike programs occur year-round.
The name change of our organization in late 2012 from Lose The Training Wheels to iCan Shine occurred as the result of a vision and mission to expand programs offered to people with disabilities in the future from our iCan Bike program to include activities such as swimming, dancing and gymnastics. We are currently in the planning stages of new programs and hope to begin introducing them in 2014.

I love working for iCan Shine because… I get the fulfillment of changing so many families’ lives. There is nothing better in my opinion than helping someone achieve a skill that many of us take for granted. There aren’t too many better things in life than seeing a rider get on two wheels for the first time and those moments are the reason I have been doing this for going on 6 YEARS!!!

I love working for iCan Shine because… my younger brother has autism and I learned early on that my brother can achieve many great things if given the right mix of compassion, patience, and knowledge. Many of his teachers and caregivers made a positive impact on my brother becoming the awesome young man that he is today. Therefore, I want to “pay it forward” and be that impact for other families with special needs. Working for iCan Shine allows me to make that difference in only five days!

I love working for iCan Shine because… it’s active, I get to travel, and I get to help people. I love working for iCan Shine because… I enjoy working with people with disabilities. I’m an elementary PE teacher during the school year. Teaching children has been a part of my life for many years and I want to continue by teaching special education one day. I love hearing the different success stories from riders and parents. They develop a belief that any obstacle can be conquered.
